Welcome to The World Outside the Window a magazine-style website offering an eclectic mix of the arts; including poetry, fiction, reviews and essays.

The site is edited & managed by John de Gruyther. John is a freelance writer, author, published poet, & songwriter.

Once described as “a site some people read,” this is an unflinchingly accurate description of the website’s popularity.

John has worked with Titan Publishing, Star Trek Magazine, The Guardian, LSG Media, SFX magazine and many more.

His poetry has been published with Howling Press, The Open Page Literary Journal and Free Verse Revolution literary magazine.

John has written a sitcom, provided content for websites, and even been a story consultant for computer games.

His experience is wide and varied, so whatever the job he finds creative avenues to produce thoughtful and powerful work.

He has recently finished his debut middle- grade fantasy novel, Erik, and is seeking representation.

There is a beautiful world outside the window full of awe if we have the compassion and curiosity to notice it.

“Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand.” Bob Dylan
